About Guineas Festival
The Guineas Festival runs from Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May 2027 at Newmarket. Racing takes place on the Rowley Mile, not the July Course. This spring meeting is central to the early Flat season because the 2,000 Guineas and 1,000 Guineas test the leading three-year-old milers and help shape expectations for the rest of the Classic campaign.
Festival highlights
- Three days of Flat racing on the Rowley Mile.
- The 2,000 Guineas and 1,000 Guineas are the festival’s defining Classic races.
- Trials and early-season performances provide context, but the final fields are declared much nearer the meeting.
A note on studying the races
Evaluate whether a promising two-year-old has progressed over the winter and whether a mile is likely to suit. Trial races can reveal fitness and temperament, but a visually impressive win against weaker opposition needs context. Newmarket’s exposed straight course can reward balance and an ability to settle. Check the ground and the strength of the opposition rather than relying only on unbeaten records.
