About Glorious Goodwood
The Qatar Goodwood Festival, widely known as Glorious Goodwood, runs from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 July 2027. The Sussex Downs venue hosts a mixture of top-level Flat races and competitive handicaps. Its contours and turning track can create tactical challenges, particularly when runners need space to make their effort in the straight.
Festival highlights
- Five days of Flat racing from Tuesday 27 July.
- The Goodwood Cup, Sussex Stakes and Nassau Stakes are established festival highlights.
- The meeting finishes on Saturday 31 July; confirm the final daily programme with the organiser.
A note on studying the races
Course experience can be helpful, but assess why a horse ran well or poorly rather than treating every course winner as equally suited. Positioning, draw, pace and clear passage can affect the outcome in a crowded field. For staying races, look beyond finishing positions to how a horse coped with the distance. Summer ground is not guaranteed to be fast, so wait for official going updates.
