About Cheltenham Festival
The Cheltenham Festival returns to Prestbury Park from Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 March 2027. It is a championship meeting for jump horses from Britain and Ireland, bringing together specialist hurdlers, novice chasers and established staying chasers. The four days have different headline contests, so choosing a day starts with deciding which division interests you most.
Festival highlights
- Champion Day opens the meeting on Tuesday 16 March.
- Ladies Day follows on Wednesday 17 March, with St Patrick’s Thursday on 18 March.
- Gold Cup Day closes the Festival on Friday 19 March.
A note on studying the races
Look for evidence that a horse can cope with Cheltenham’s undulations, fences or hurdles and uphill finish. A strong record on a flat track does not automatically transfer to this course. Compare recent form, ground preferences and the likely race distance before considering prices. Winter entries and ante-post markets are not the final declared field: horses may have several possible targets.
