About Ayr Gold Cup Festival
The Ayr Gold Cup Festival runs from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 September 2027. Ayr Racecourse confirms Saturday 18 September as Gold Cup Day. The meeting is an important part of Scotland’s Flat calendar and is best known for competitive sprint handicaps, where a large field and changing autumn conditions can complicate assessment.
Festival highlights
- Three racedays: Thursday 16, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September.
- The Ayr Gold Cup is scheduled for the festival’s Saturday.
- The organiser currently lists the Saturday gates, first race and last race times as TBC.
A note on studying the races
For sprint handicaps, examine the interaction of draw and pace rather than automatically favouring a particular stall. Identify which runners are likely to lead and whether the ground may affect different parts of the course. Autumn rain can materially change the test, so reassess any early view after official going updates. Check each-way terms carefully because place concessions vary between bookmakers.
