Doncaster's celebrated four-day Classic meeting, featuring elite juvenile races, major sprints and the final British Classic of the season.
First run in 1776, the St Leger is Britain's oldest Classic. The Group 1 contest tests three-year-olds over one mile, six furlongs and 115 yards, demanding a rare combination of class, stamina and tactical speed.
The race was devised by Anthony St Leger and first staged at Cantley Common before moving to Doncaster. It completes the English Triple Crown after the 2,000 Guineas and Derby, and its roll of honour includes many of the sport's greatest stayers.
The festival opens with competitive handicaps and quality fillies' races, setting the scene for four days of Flat racing.
The historic Doncaster Cup headlines the card and provides a searching test for established staying horses.
The St Leger Stakes is the centrepiece, supported by the Champagne Stakes and Portland Handicap.
The closing card combines competitive racing with the popular Leger Legends charity contest.
Doncaster is a wide, left-handed galloping track with sweeping bends and a long home straight. The fair layout usually gives runners time to find a position, while the extended Classic distance makes stamina and efficient settling especially important.
